AL GATOR INTERVIEW BY BRIAN KAYSER

First off, what's good? Shit, working, staying in the studio homie.

Can you give everyone a brief 101 as to who you are? AG. Al Gator, The South Coast Saviour. Atlanta Native….The hardest motherfucker coming out of the south.

Coming from Atlanta, do you feel like you're expected to be crunk?

Naw, Niggaz like OutKast, T.I. and Goodie Mob have paved the way…I mean we really like the most diverse region in this music shit.

Congrats on the Unsigned Hype in the Source, how did it feel when you opened up the mag and saw your face?

Shit, It was overdue. I been spittin flames for a while now man.

What has that done for you so far?

I had an industry buzz before that, it gave cats on the streets a face to a name….I am grateful though. I am appreciative of the respects dudes are giving me on the streets right now.

Back in the day you formed a group with Ludacris, how did the group get started and what were you called?

As far as the Ludacris situation, it was never a group with Ludacris himself. It was a situation with some artist in the now known DTP (I-20, Lil Fate, Tity Boy and Dolla Boi) and we were called Playaz Circle. My brother Shai had formed a label and then I was an artist/producer, mostly involved in production.

How was Luda as an MC then?

At that time he was just a DJ on the radio (97.5) and doing shows in southern cities.

How have you seen him change from then 'til now?

The nigga rich. Lol

Being that you aren't in DTP now, everyone'll be wondering what happened between you and the others...

I was never in DTP, the artist I mentioned above was in a group called Playaz Circle and they end up signing with DTP.

How did you get down with Focus?

He heard some mixtape shit and it has been love every since.

What was it about you that made him want to work with you?

I was HOT, something new and refreshing for the game.

What about The Alchemist?

Pretty much the same as the Focus situation. I have been working with nothing but major producers, so everyone is showing the same love.

What labels have gotten at you so far?

Pretty much every major label you can think of (I got a lot of things happening for me, so I gotta stay quiet on that)

Who have you received the most interest from?

Gotta stay quiet.....

What is the ideal offer you're looking for from a label?

Creative Control and room to take this shit over like I am supposed too.

What's the biggest obstacles you've faced in the game so far?

Really, this rap shit is like a picnic, man I have faced way bigger obstacles in life.

How do you know when you've made a good song?

I am in a zone right now duke, I haven't bricked yet. When I brick, you'll be the first to know.

How can producers get at you with beats?

They can send them to the office at the following address:
9633 Utah Drive
Jonesboro, Ga 30238

Finally, when people hear Al Gator, what do you want them to think?

That the game finally has something new to look forward to since the greatest are buried and HOV has retired.

Shout Outs:
730 and hiphopgame.com, KC from Katching Casez Promotions, Mario & Pooh over at P&P ENT., Tashonna at Street Sweeperz Management (www.streetsweeperz.net), DJ Woogie (www.djwoogie.net), College Park, Ga…A-Town, the south coast….everybody that is helping me build this empire….i'm out…
