I know this review is late, but HARRY and I have had numerous conversations
concerning the CD and the review. He wanted us to post the review and his interview
simultaneously. Due to the site being under reconstruction, (I know how long
it's been, I'm paying for it) we didn't want to do anymore interviews until
the new format dropped. However, HARRY insisted and we set up numerous meetings,
that for some reason or another, one of us couldn't make. After several cancellations,
we finally got up and needless to say, the conversation was very entertaining.
HARRY is new to
RAPMULLET, because he hasn't had the opportunity to actively participate or
share his thoughts on past reviews, but his take on the differences between
"NAS: LIVING LEGENDS" and "WARRIORS" might help people understand
the rating the former received. "WARRIORS" is a better CD than "LIVING
LEGENDS", but HARRY doesn't even think the two should be compared to one
another! The complexity in production and blends displayed on "WARRIORS"
is far more eccentric than its predecessor. HARRY'S explanation for this is
simple. "WARRIORS" is about DIRTY HARRY. "NAS: LIVING LEGENDS"
is about the artist. IT WAS NOT THE TYPICAL DIRTY HARRY RELEASE! Now that I
got that shit out of the way, let's get down to business!
I" is a rewind classic. As usual there is so much anticipation built before
the beat drops, that you have to put it on replay to enjoy how well everything
is put together. "WHEN I'M GONE vs. CRY LITTLE SISTER" is listed as
a mash up, but HARRY has been dong shit like this for years! How many other
DJ's can get away with including PINK FLOYD on a Hip Hop mixtape? In fact, how
many fans knew that the back drop was FLOYD? I don't want to give the entire
release away, incase your dumb enough to have neglected to purchase it, but
on "HEARD 'EM SAY", HARRY uses TEARS FOR FEARS as a back drop, combined
with the "PAPARAZZI" violins, a beat break and an upcoming artist!
His blends are plush and it's more than including a scene or changing up a chorus!
It's more than being able to produce a beat, because he does that as well. HARRY
is the complete package, love it or hate it! Some people tell me his releases
are too busy, but in this day and age of technology, if your able to separate
yourself from the pack, then you have to be doing something correctly! .
