DIVINE INTERVIEW BY BRIAN KAYSER

First off can you give us some background as to who you are?
Yeah what's going on ya this is Divine representing NYC to the fullest. Ive been involved in the game for about 8 years now and have made serious progress throughout that time. I began recording albums when I was 15 and even though the sound quality wasn't all that poppin the content was on point and we still made hits even then. My sounds have bounced from New York down to Florida over to Cali and back into Texas. Those who have heard what I bring to the table certainly agree that I am an artist of high caliber and I put effort into what I make I dont just record tracks with simple hooks and dance routines to get credit for what I do. I'm a real emcee in the purest form and my music will surely present that to the public. I held down a crowd of 1000+ people on stage by myself when I was in high school! I definitely been doing things for a minute and it's gonna keep on going nah mean?

When did you start to take MC'ing seriously?

When I was 13 years old which was in 97 around the time when Wu Tang Forever came out. That album definitely moved mountains let alone crowds and that helped jump start and influence my aspiration of being an emcee in the game. I started off small by recording tracks here and there and wreckin shop in lunchroom battles and etc and although at the time most thought I didnt have what it takes to make it I stuck with it and nonetheless my devotion paid off in the end.

Who are your influences?
The realest emcees in the game influenced me such as Nas, Big L, Wu-Tang (including their killa beez or the underground cats that represent Wu), Canibus, Rakim, Jay-Z, Biggie, Cormega, All City, AZ and etc. All of these brothas mentioned and more that I may have forgotten helped me in my struggle as an artist.

What do you look for in a beat?
As far as beats go Im looking for shit that will make hearts stop, nah mean?
It could be an R&B type vibe and I want it to be on a strong tip, voice samples are always a plus for me, banging drums and just overall creativity I mean I really don't feel them nintendo beats that some cats be feeling nowadays, thats not me. I'm the dude that wants to make motion pictures out of tracks nah mean? I want a person to feel like they're watching a serious movie when they hear my shit and I know that the lyrics are gonna hold the track down but I need a beat to help put the nail in the coffin nah mean?

What producers would you like to work with?

All of the illest producers alive like DJ Premier, RZA, 4th Disciple, Tru Master, Allah Mathematics, Pete Rock, Just Blaze, Heatmakers, Alchemist, Doctor Dre. and etc. If the paper was right and everything was on point truthfully speaking my albums would have tracks with only these producers on them and I cant forget my homies Soul Theory and DJ Rek who held me down for the projects Im working on currently.

What artists have you worked with?

I've only worked with real underground heads whom the world hasn't heard of yet like A-Snubz, Soul Theory, J. Parker, Mystery, Progress, and etc. These brothas are artists who have skill but just havent been heard.

What's your relationship with the Wu like?
As I said before these brothas basically helped me in my process of becoming a real emcee since I grew up on they shit. As of right now I4m in the process of linking up with some of them and hopefully in the future we could make classics together but meantime between time it4s all love on my behalf.

Any last words?

Be on the lookout for my next project "Divine Theory" set to hit stores in early 2005. Its definitely gonna be a classic album, I already recorded half of it and everything is looking great right now as far as thats concerned. A video should be released for the single of the album also. Meantime between time you could check out my video on www.blastro.com called "My Time 2 Shine" and keep checking out this site they definitely doing they thing here at hip hop game and you might be able to hear some of my stuff on here in the near future.

How can Heads reach out to you?
