I made my first mixtape the first day of 2001. It was a new year I was ready to go in.

Who was on it?

I had all the big dogs on the first tape.The first tape "On Point Pt 1" had a lot of stolen records, haha I had to do what I had to do at the time since I was new. All u wack a&r's remember!!

What equipment do you use to make a mixtape?

I use pro tools, technics, good echo chamber, and all the latest exclusives from the artist I market to make the tape. I don't use any of the wack songs from the label.

How much talking should be a mixtape?

I feel like if u don't wanna hear talking on a mixtape choose another DJ, because if we don't talk how do all our connects and sponsors get promoted? Also we are promoting ourselves as artists, some type of personality has to be displayed to separate yourself from the rest.

Should mixtape DJ's charge money to play songs?

I do not charge to get on mixtapes, If its hot I play it, if my marketing director brings me something hot I play it.

Do they lose credibility by doing that?

I don't think DJ's should lose credibility if they charge because promotion costs regardless. Everybody has to have a promotional budget. We press up thousands of promo cds just to give away, that's my promotional budget. Its not free for us.

What mixtape DJ's have a good ear?

Clue has a great ear, he's broken so many records its crazy, also Enuff, my man Sickamore holds it down also.

What mixtape DJ's are exploiting the game and fucking it up?

The internet DJs are fucking up the game. And all the DJs in mags talkin' about how many cds they sellin'. Idiots, it's promotional use only, I thought y'all knew better.

Should a person have real DJ skills before they make a mixtape?

I don't really care who makes a mixtape, because everyone's gonna do it, regardless. Independent artists, clothing companies, any internet geek with a cd burner. Any DJ crying about it's oversaturated is broke or needs to step they game up. Get ya paper. If you as hot as you say you are you'll be aight, the streets will acknowledge it.

What does it take for someone to get on your mixtape?

Anyone with a hot record can get on my tape. Contact me at DJwats@tmail.com and we'll get something going.
My tapes flood the hoods all over. Plus I tour hoods all over the world promoting. My street reps know. All the websites have the tapes also.

How do you know when you've made a dope mixtape?

I know I made a dope tape when I get calls from the artists telling me good lookin. When my people in Puerto Rico get the bootleg tapes on the second day I put em out. I'm heavy in the bootleg market.

What's up with the UPS mixtape?

The UPS tape was basically reminding these broke DJs making tapes for lunch money that its always a way out...haha UPS IS STILL HIRING.

What have you done for Stimuli's career?

Stimuli is my man. When all the hater DJs was puting him number 30 on tapes I was like he's number 1 on everything. I got him, he's the hottest right now, I cosign they grind over there at Undaworld. Shouts to them.

Who else have you put on?

I also helped my man Frankie Krutches do him, he's a hard worker 4 real 4 real. My man Maino, Gravy, Cartier, Game, Sky Balla, the list goes on.

What's coming up for you?

I got a lot coming up. Clothing line in the works. My own line of watches with the diamond districts RON JAY the jeweler, called "king supreme collection" will hit soon.
