GZA - Legend Of The Liquid Sword

In recent years, the Wu-Tang Clan's reputation for genius has been dulled by personal struggles and inconsistent albums from the group and its members. And the Wu's self-proclaimed Genius, the GZA, has been mostly quiet since 1999, and now faces having his fourth solo album swallowed in the clutter of Christmas releases. But the Gizza's liquid sword will carve out a path for this stunner, probably the best Wu-related effort since his own mid-90's classic, Liquid Swords.

The routine beats that were his bane in the past have been banished, thanks to producers like Jaz-O and DJ Muggs, who give the GZA string-drenched cinematic soundscapes as bold as his verses. And those cutting couplets make this a must-have for any student of the mic; "Animal Planet," a brilliant metaphor for the Wu family, and "Fame," a wordgame like his old favorite "Labels," are only the most audacious rhymes of this collection, filled with sharp objects unsafe for most other MCs to handle.
