What's
good, Ic?
I'm chilling.
I'm just trying to get everything ready for this mixtape.
What's
good with your mixtape?
It's coming
out right now. It's hosted by Jamie Kennedy and Sickamore. It's going
to be crazy. Sickamore's my boy. He's the new A&R at Atlantic Records.
Shout out to my boy Jamie Kennedy. MTV just brought back another series
of his show. We're grinding.
What's
up with your album?
The album
is coming soon. It should be in stores soon. It's called "Genocide."
I got some flamers on there. You have to check the mixtape. It's like
a prelude to the album. It's going to be crazy.
How are
you going to put the album out?
I don't know,
man. I'm trying to think of some new ways to do it. Redman and my company
is giving me some ideas. I'm trying to put it out crazy. One of my ideas
was that I was going to put it out on the internet before anything. We're
still throwing around ideas. I have Rockwilder and a lot of big producers
on there.
What potential
does your album have to do to the game?
It's going
to wake people up and let them know that Hip Hop isn't dead. Hip Hop definitely
isn't dead, but you would think it was listening to the radio.
Why has
it taken so long for you to drop?
I value my
music more than these deals. I just got two good offers, so right now,
we're really pushing it.
How would
you compare yourself to the mythological Icarus?
Oh, I meant
to tell you. That's not my name anymore. It's Icadon now. I'm done with
Icarus. That shit is dead.
How come?
It's like
I'm past that part in my life. You know how you go through things in life?
It's like two different egos. When you elevate, you get new names and
you elevate. Right now, I'm an executive and I have artistic wings. I
don't consider myself an artist anymore. It's Icadon right now. Before
Icarus, I was Warchild, and before that, I had a street name, a hustling
name, that was Lice, and before that, I had my government name. I'm just
elevating.
What do
you think Redman saw in you that made him want to work with you?
Talent recognizes
other talent. It's not hard to see. I'm not bragging or anything, but
I puts it in. You know how hard Red goes in.
How do
you and Red work together?
We work good.
We have our own studios and we do it like that. We mp3 songs to each other.
That's my dog right there.
Do you
feel that people see you in Redman's shadow?
Yeah, I see
that, because Red is a big dude. I'm a younger dude and Red was the first
dude to introduce me to the game. But I'm not in anybody's shadow. We
stand next to each other. We're brothers. A lot of people look at it like
that, though, because I'm just coming into the game. I came to him nasty
and that made him want to fuck with me.
It seems
as though Red never forced you to adopt his style.
Yeah, that's
a good thing. He's never told me to switch anything. Even if he wanted
me to, he couldn't front on what I bring to the table. He never tried
to push me to sound like him which is good. We have two different styles
and they're both nice.
What's
been up with Gilla House lately?
I'm not an
artist, I'm out there grinding like I do. I don't really know what the
artists are doing. We chill, we smoke, but I don't really know too many
other people on the label like that. I'm not really involved in the label
like that. One dude coming out that's ill is Mark Hammerz. He's the illest
nigga coming up in Jersey to me.
What's
up with your ghostwriting company?
I'm trying
to get my cream up. A lot of people are coming to us. That's what it is.
What's
your main focus for the next couple of months?
This album,
finishing it up. I'm also working on dropping the mixtape. The album is
going to be a banger. It's going to be like a twelve-gauge shot in the
Hip Hop world. I'm going hard because they're not respecting Hip Hop or
our culture like they should be.
What do
you want to say to everyone?
Just know
that there is nobody out there fucking with Ic right now. Quote that shit.
