What's
up?
I'm doing
well. I've just been busy working getting the tournament situated and
adding some new features for LetsBeef.
Can you
give us some history of LetsBeef?
We started
LetsBeef in November of 2005. We were just looking for a way to let people
freestyle battle over the internet. We figured out a way we could do it
and we offered it up for free. Since then, we've done a lot more. We've
added some new things and we just relaunched our site which includes our
Exclusive Membership and our tournament featuring Lil Flip. There are
also other options you can do on the site like put crews together, and
battle other crews.
Are you
satisfied with how the site's been growing?
We're definitely
satisfied. We've seen some real growth. We're the only site on the internet
that has what we have to offer and LetsBeef is a site that is geared towards
MC's and hip-hop fans. We have over 35,000 members right now.
What's
going on with the tournament featuring Lil' Flip?
It starts
in November. It's a 64 person tournament and it's run in elimination style.
The 64 MC's will battle each other until there is a winner. The winner
will drop a freestyle verse and it will be compared to Lil Flip's verse.
If the person has a better verse than Flip, they get $2000. This is courtesy
of 845 Entertainment and is also a promotion for the new Flip DVD scheduled
for January, 2007 titled What it Do.
Who's
judging the tournament?
We have a
membership for $5 a month. Anybody that pays for the membership is allowed
to vote and is able to qualify for the tournament. The staff as well as
845 Entertainment will vote on the final freestyle verse.
Have you
been able to find a lot of talent?
There are
some good and talented MC's and there are some kids who like rap music
but they're not serious-minded MC's. We have over 35,000 and there are
hundreds of talented MC's. The ones who will make it into the tournament
definitely have some skills.
What's
the most popular feature on LetsBeef.com?
When we started
off it was just the freestyle battle section. We want serious-minded MC's
to get a chance to work with each other. It's hard to get recognized out
there even if you do have talent. Because we are focused on building the
ultimate community for MC's they can now upload tracks to their profile
and get feedback from other MC's. We're just trying to promote the underground
MC's and get them noticed. In September we also added the video section
where you can battle using a webcam. You can also form your crews and
then battle other crews. The crews and the tracks have feature has actually
been a really good way of networking for everyone.
What are
you guys doing with Rockwilder?
We work on
RocBattle.com with Rockwilder. It's a site for music producers to network,
battle, sell beats and they have tournaments there as well. Rockwilder
has helped out LetsBeef because he's giving us some beats for the MC's
to battle on and he's giving the winner of this tournament a beat for
whatever project they're working on.
Where
do you see LetsBeef going in the future?
We want it
to be a platform for people around the world to show themselves to legitimate
record companies. That's the direction we're going for. It is a site that
anybody can use, but our focus is for the serious-minded MC's who can
make it and really need a chance. Right now, we're really focusing on
making LetsBeef the breeding ground for MC's on the internet.
What do
you want to say to everybody?
I just want
them to know that the tournament is starting November 1. You can sign
up at Let's Beef and you need to start battling. You need to grab the
premium membership which is $5 a month. There are lots of features that
you'll get with that including crews, tracks, tournaments for cash and
more. You also get a chance to win up to $2,000 and get a beat from Rockwilder.
There's not a price you can put on that.
